Pizza Truck York

Were Andy and Luke  better known these days as Mario and Luigi  and were the team behind The Woodfired Kitchen. Our journey here has been anything but conventional, but then again, neither are we.

Andy (aka Mario) has spent over two decades as a designer, brand manager and creative consultant, building ideas, businesses and campaigns since the late ’90s. After a few sidesteps into golf travel, property and an ambitious social enterprise (that Covid unfortunately had other ideas about), it was time for a new chapter — one with fewer pixels and more pizza. What started as a passion for cooking turned into a calling: to bring top-tier, woodfired street food to the people of Yorkshire. Life’s too short to stay in one lane.

Luke (aka Luigi) is a teaching assistant at a York school, working closely with children with special educational needs — a role he loves and is genuinely brilliant at. But when the chance came to build something lasting, something delicious, and something his wife and kids could be proud of, he couldn’t resist. What started as banter over dinner and a shared love of food, football and decent wine soon turned into plans for our own mobile kitchen.

Enter the Woodfired Kitchen.

After 8 months of prep, planning and plenty of late-night dough tweaks, we’re rolling. Our kitchen on wheels began life as a Nugent cattle trailer and is now a one-of-a-kind mobile pizzeria, custom-built by the team at Bushman Ovens. It’s got everything we need – including a woodfired oven so good it’s still 180 degrees the morning after service.

As for the names? Credit goes to Luke’s daughters, Elsie 10 and Mollie 8, who knocked on Andy’s door asking if "Mario" could come out to play before our first pub night. It stuck. And no, we’re not plumbers.

Now, we’re serving up slow-proved, joy-filled pizza to locals, partygoers and pizza lovers across North Yorkshire. We’re loving it. We’ve swapped the office and the classroom for festivals, weddings, sports clubs and fields full of hungry people. Each week brings new recipes, new ideas and more than a few flying dough disasters as Luke perfects his pizzaiola skills.

We’re here to cook for you. For your big moments. For your wedding, your festival, your Friday night feed. And we promise to bring the flavour, the fire and just the right amount of cheesy jokes.
